Introduce a Girl to Engineering Day

Each February, STEMworks™offers our popular Introduce a Girl to Engineering Day (IGED). Held in conjunction with National Engineering Week, IGED is organized and hosted by STEMworks™ in collaboration with the Hawai‘i Society of Engineers-Maui Chapter and the County of Maui.

IGED was created to:

  • expose girls to the field of engineering

  • encourage participants to pursue engineering and technology careers

  • raise awareness of the contributions engineers make to the community

This memorable day-long event typically includes an educational video showcasing the various types of engineering careers, as well as a fun, hands-on engineering activities. The event is free and open to 7th & 8th grade girls.

It is important to provide and develop future leaders through community-based programs such as Women in Technology’s IGED Designed to address planning for Hawaii’s future, IGED engages young women in meaningful events that add to their skill set and inspire them to choose a career in STEM.
